What a fabulous afternoon! We combined the Summer Lunch with our 40th birthday celebrations and had a wonderful party at La Fleur de Lys in Shaftesbury on 8th July. There was a good attendance of members and guests, including two potential new members.
Members enjoyed a drink on arrival and were able to take this into the delightful sunny garden where canapés were served. Following this we were invited indoors by David & Mary for our meal. They had asked for a seating plan in advance with the food order so that they knew who had ordered what, and were able to serve the right food to the right person.
A talented saxophonist played gently in the background for us throughout which was much more pleasant than piped music.
On entering the dining room members were surprised & delighted to discover that Julia had made us a wonderful 40th birthday cake complete with a 40th birthday helium balloon. The cake was a fantastic creation and looked truly wonderful.
The committee had opted to have starter and main, knowing there would be cake for dessert. As ever, La Fleur de Lys presented food beautifully, and we were not disappointed in either the taste or the quantity. David expertly portioned the cake, which was enjoyed by all with tea, coffee and petits fours.
Conversation flowed freely, making a fairly noisy and very happy sounding atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who was able to join in making such a jolly time of it.
40th Anniversary Summer Lunch – July 2025
